Heading to Haiti!!!

It's been a long time since I wrote on this blog but I thought my trip to Haiti was a great time to start writing again! I am traveling to Haiti for a 10 day short-term mission trip with my youngest son Kirk and my niece Kira, both 17 years old. We leave tomorrow and spend the night in Dallas, arriving into Port au Prince on Saturday afternoon. I'm a little bit nervous but for the most part super excited!

We will be staying with Ricot and Mandy Leon, the Heart for Home missionairies (check out their blog, link on my side bar) in Port-Salut, a five hour drive from Port au Prince. I'm excited to see the progress of the Heart for Home mission since it started! During our 10 days in Haiti we will be helping out in a variety of ways and I will do my best to update this blog with our activities. One thing I know for sure is that we'll feel the impact of this experience far more than we're able to make in our short stay!

A bonus for us is that Rob and Stacey Klingbeil from our church, Oak Park Church of Christ are in Haiti right now too. In July they put all their belongings in storage and traveled down to Haiti to spend the next 3-6 months working with the Heart for Home mission. Check out their blog, also a link on my side bar).

I'm off to finish packing, including a couple extra suitcases of stuff donated from members of our church. Hope to post an update and pictures soon!
